Terms of Sale

Last updated: 9 October 2026

01When these terms apply

These terms apply when Roastnet Ltd is the seller of record: roaster lots where Roastnet holds samples (currently in the United Kingdom) and origin lots. They do not apply to importer lots or to direct roaster to roaster trade, where Roastnet is not the seller.

The Roastnet green market is for businesses only. By using it you confirm that you act for a business in the course of its trade, and not as a consumer. Consumer rights legislation that applies only to consumers does not apply to purchases made through the market.

02Contract

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is made when Roastnet confirms the order. Roastnet buys the coffee from the original seller and sells it to you. The original seller's identity is kept private.

03Price and payment

The price shown includes Roastnet's margin. VAT and delivery are added where they apply and are shown before you order. You pay Roastnet at order by card or bank transfer. Collection is booked only once payment has been received; if payment is not received within [PLACEHOLDER: payment deadline] we may cancel the order.

04Sale by sample

Coffee is sold by sample. Roastnet holds the reference sample for the lot, and the coffee delivered will correspond with that sample in its essential characteristics, allowing for the normal natural variation of green coffee between sample and bulk. Descriptions such as cup scores and tasting notes are guidance, not warranties.

05Inspected origin lots

For origin lots you may buy an independent quality inspection at origin at checkout. Where an inspection was bought, the inspection certificate is final as to quality and quantity at shipment, and no quality claim can be made for coffee that matched the certificate when it was shipped. Changes in transit are dealt with under delivery and insurance, not as a quality claim.

0648-hour claim window

You must inspect the coffee on delivery. If it does not correspond with the sample, or is damaged, short or wrong, raise a claim in Roastnet within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs and details, and keep the coffee unused and in its packaging. Claims raised after 48 hours, or for coffee that has been roasted or used beyond a test roast, will not be accepted, except for faults that could not reasonably have been found by inspection. The Claims and Returns policy sets out the process.

07Remedies

If a claim is upheld, your remedy is to return the coffee and receive a full refund of the price you paid, including delivery. For origin lots, where a return is not practical, Roastnet will instead pass on to you what it recovers from the origin seller, up to the price you paid. These are your only remedies for coffee that does not match its sample or description, to the extent the law allows.

08Delivery, risk and title

Delivery is arranged by Roastnet under the Delivery Terms. Risk in the coffee passes to you on delivery to your address. Title passes when Roastnet has received payment in full.

For origin lots, delivery terms and estimated dates are shown at order. Shipping dates from origin are estimates and can be affected by harvest, export and shipping conditions outside Roastnet's control.

09Liability

Roastnet's total liability under each order is limited to the price paid for that order. [PLACEHOLDER: solicitor to confirm the liability cap for sales] Roastnet is not liable for loss of profit, business or goodwill, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing excludes the statutory implied terms as to title.

10Food safety and use

Green coffee is a raw agricultural product that must be roasted before consumption. You are responsible for storing and roasting it correctly and for the food safety of the products you make from it.

11Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory local law provides otherwise. [PLACEHOLDER: solicitor to confirm governing law and jurisdiction]
