Green Market Terms
Last updated: 9 October 2026
01About the green market
The Roastnet green market lets specialty roasters buy green coffee from importers, from other roasters and from origin sellers such as exporters, farmers, producers and cooperatives. These terms explain who you contract with in each case. They apply in addition to the Terms of Service.
The Roastnet green market is for businesses only. By using it you confirm that you act for a business in the course of its trade, and not as a consumer. Consumer rights legislation that applies only to consumers does not apply to purchases made through the market.
02Three ways coffee is sold
Each listing shows which lane it belongs to. The lane decides who the seller is.
- Importer lots: the importer is the seller. Roastnet passes on your order; the importer confirms or declines it and invoices the coffee itself. Roastnet is not a party to that contract. See the Importer Terms.
- Roaster lots where Roastnet holds samples (currently the United Kingdom): Roastnet buys the coffee from the selling roaster and sells it to you. Roastnet is the seller of record. See the Terms of Sale and the Seller Terms.
- Origin lots: Roastnet buys the coffee from the origin seller and is the importer and seller of record to you. See the Terms of Sale and the Seller Terms.
03Roaster to roaster trade in other countries
Where Roastnet does not hold samples for roaster lots in a country, roaster to roaster trade on the market is direct between the two businesses. Samples, coffee, payment and delivery are arranged between them, and Roastnet is not a party to that contract.
04Services by country
Some services, such as Roastnet-held samples, Roastnet as seller of record for roaster lots, and the Roastnet delivery service, run only in certain countries. Today they run in the United Kingdom. Each listing and checkout shows which services apply.
05Ordering and payment
An order is an offer to buy. It becomes a contract only when the seller of record confirms it. Where Roastnet is the seller, or where you book a Roastnet delivery, you pay Roastnet by card or bank transfer. Collection is booked only once payment has been received.
06Privacy of the parties
In trades where Roastnet is the seller of record, the original seller and the buyer are not told each other's identity, and deliveries are sent as blind consignments. You must not try to identify the other party or arrange the trade outside Roastnet.
07Roastnet's role where it is not the seller
Where Roastnet is not the seller, it provides the marketplace software only. It does not check, own or take responsibility for the coffee, and does not take the coffee price. Claims about that coffee are between buyer and seller, though we will help where we reasonably can.
08Listings and suspension
We may decline, edit for accuracy, pause or remove any listing, and may suspend members who breach these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
09Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory local law provides otherwise. [PLACEHOLDER: solicitor to confirm governing law and jurisdiction]
